In Deventer, we have the opportunity to shape the client’s ambition to contribute to the city. The monumental building, ‘De Drie Haringen,’ is being transformed into a business hub for startups that can operate there for a few years at no cost.
The entrepreneurs will be provided with a workspace and support from a team of experts. A bakery shop will be located on the ground floor, serving as a meeting place for both the building’s users and passers-by.
The six-story building (including two attic levels) will feature an atrium that vertically bisects the structure, making the building’s original function—as a warehouse for herring, with a pulley and cables in the roof and a large loading door on each floor—visible to everyone. The atrium ensures that the businesses are visible and that everyone can connect with one another. It will not be an anonymous office building, but a vibrant meeting space where work is part of life.
