In the new design for Strandpaviljoen Noord, a panoramic view of the sea is central. The main volume of the pavilion spans the full width of the pillars and has a limited depth. The bar is centrally located in the space, facing the sea.
In summer, the pavilion can be almost completely opened, creating a seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor areas. Even though the glass facades are closed in winter, the pavilion remains very light and transparent, which is exactly what Noord has been known for over the years.
The restaurant area inside consists of a secondary volume with a gently sloping roof. The roof rises towards the sea, opening the space in that direction. This, combined with the large windows, provides an unobstructed view of the beach and the sea.
The bar and kitchen are situated at the heart of the building and are fully open. Guests are in contact with the chef at any moment and from any spot. This hospitable approach is a strong desire of the client and aligns perfectly with the transparent pavilion.
The materials used for the new pavilion are warm, fresh, and light. The solid parts of the building are made of white sheet material. The wooden planks of the terraces and floors are stained black, and the wooden frames are painted white.
The large transparent surfaces allow plenty of light inside, and the steel structure is prominently featured in the interior.
